Northbrewing Co X PARIA: Paperboy 2.0
After the success of our 2017 NorthBrewing Co X Paria Paperboy ride, we are back for 2018, bigger, better, maybe a bit longer, and with better food.
In 2017 60 riders braved the roads leading out of Leeds, and took in the beautiful countryside North of Leeds and up into Harrogate. Pit stopping in North Bar Harrogate, taking in coffee, cake and some mad heads drinking Transmission and Canonball, the riders continued out of Harrogate towards Otley following the road out to Norwood, and climbing onwards up to Stainburn forest.
Some of those cyclists less experienced in riding on Yorkshire roads, and the terrain which comes with pushing two wheels up hill and down dale, were a little surprised with the climbs. To quote Lou (one of our potty mouthed female entries from further afield)
“You told me there were no f**kin hills, not sure what you think are actually hills, but there were some massive f**kin climbs.”
We take this as the benchmark of success.
After a further pit stop at North Bar Social in Otley, it was back down through Pool in Wharfedale and into the urban conurbation of Leeds and the NorthBrew co brewery. One of the main reasons we hosted the event was to mark the launch of our IPA colab beer, so we treated the guys who made it back to a can of this, and a fresh beer from the tanks.
The feedback from the riders who took part, was really positive, and we were asked to run another event prior to Xmas. Unfortunately we are like everyone else – running around like headless chickens in the pre-festive months, so thought we would put all our efforts into making one belter of an event for 2018.
Our plan for version 2.0 of the Paperboy ride is to have a similar, maybe even tad-more challenging route, and see if we can squeeze in another North Bar along the way for good measure.
The ride is running in conjunction with Leeds Feast / Eat North so we will have plenty of food for you when you return to the Brewery after the event . Also looking at using the DJs and space to full effect, so there will be plenty of reasons to hang about, chat with us (you never need a reason to do that) and generally add some debit to the credit you have built up on the ride.
And obviously there needs to be a supporting beer, so keep them peeled for that.
