Super BAB - Geometrical Abstract Art X Realism

Paria has long stood for pushing the boundaries on kit design, and taking an all in all left-field approach to graphics which adorn our seasonal kit collections.

We have worked with the talents of the team at Selection to seek out artists who fit our vibe, get our jam and generally are talented creatives and good people.

Our collaboration with BAB hits this brief right in the kisser, with a mix up of graphical styles incorporating geometrics, illustrations and typography to deliver a surprising Autumnal seller.

We had a chat with BAB to understand where his influences emanate from, and how

What has your journey been to being an artist ? 

I started my journey through graffiti, 18 years ago, yes I spent more than half of my life doing graffiti. Then I wanted to learn some techniques so I studied at the Beaux Arts in Paris and finally started as a professional painter. I'm doing most of my art at home, where I feel at peace. 

How would you describe your style ? 

I think my style is very colorful, using geometric shapes. I like to hide some realistic items, so the audience can imagine whatever they want to.

What are your influences ? 

My art is most driven by the cubic and surrealistic artistic movement, the early-20th-century avant-garde art movement which began in Paris. I also take influence from the geometrical abstraction art, combining styles.

As a painter, I admire Pablo Picasso, also Juan Gris, and Henri Matisse. 

Do you ride a bike ? 

Yes I ride a bike but sadly it's not on a daily basis. I tend to use my bike for leisure rides heading out on a family rides with my brother and nephews. 

Why do you live/ love PARIA ? 

I like Paria for their creative and artistic approach they bring to the cycling world. There is so much variety, and a raft of influences which offers far more opportunity for people to find a design of kit that will most match their style

What’s next for you ? I have some large artwalls pieces which I am bring together and are coming soon, stay tuned ! 

What’s your favourite piece of BAB art you have worked on to date ? 

I don't have a favorite piece, but as I am curious, I like to discover and work on new supports, such as carpets, ceramics, canvases and outdoor walls. I think it is on outdoor walls that I can express my art the most.

What is a dream job for you ? 

A dream job for me is a job that combines experience and passion. It is also a job that has meaning for us, but is also in line with our values.
